Haier Appliances to double retail outlets

Haier Appliances (India) Pvt Ltd is planning to open about 35 exclusive retail stores by the end of November, according to its President, Mr Eric Braganza.

“Today, we have 38 retail stores. The number will be increased to over 75 by Diwali this year,” Mr Braganza told newspersons after inaugurating Haier’s first exclusive retail store in Andhra Pradesh, here on Thursday.

Despite being a relatively new player, Haier’s growth during the last eight months has been “impressive”, according to him.

Dealer network

“During 2009, we did about Rs 350-crore business. This year, we have already crossed this figure in the first eight months. I think we could possibly touch about Rs 900-crore business by the end of this year,” he said.

The growth was driven by expansion in dealer network and product offerings, besides a strong economy, Mr Braganza said.
