10 Important Tips to look stunning in a Saree

The ethnic or traditional outfit for a woman in India is the ‘saree’. It is among the most popular and distinct apparel for women all around the world, apart from its elegance and class. In the latest scenario, women prefer western wear over the saree due to the convenience and comfort they get from the casual western wear; hence the traditional saree is just left for occasional wear and is not the first choice of today’s Indian woman.

However, it still charms the on-lookers or even the wearer with the many untold characteristics hidden in its varied folds. When draped in the correct manner it looks very aesthetic and guarantees a second look from the people around. It might come out to be too clunky to an individual who isn’t acquainted with the way it is supposed to be worn, but in fact draping a saree is a lot easier than it is perceived to be. Following are a few tips which could help you make the best of this traditional outfit.

1) Cotton, Tussar, Tissue and Organza sarees are a good option for women who are tall in height.

2) Sarees with heavy borders are a good choice for tall women, however those women who are on the shorter side shouldn’t opt for such a piece, instead they should select sarees with no or lighter borders.

3) Wearing Chiffon, Georgette or Chignon or Mysore silk is a good option for the ladies who are on the heavier side as these sarees drape very well and can make the woman look slimmer.

4) Some women are fond of printed sarees, delicate, soft and light prints are a neat and subtle choice.

5) For events, functions or parties one can pin up just one layer over the shoulder and then let the remaining fall over the hand.

6) On formal affairs, a woman could pin up her saree (known as the pallu) up near the shoulder in pleats. This helps make it a lot manageable all through the day.

7) Wearing high heeled shoes with a saree enhances the gait of a woman making her look all the more elegant.

8) Accessories add to the charm of the saree. If the particular saree worn has some regional significance then the jewellery should be worn accordingly to make it a perfect match. If not, any light and attractive accessory would go well on all kinds of sarees.

9) Wearing reasonable underclothing is a must, it should be simple and most importantly color coordinated.

10) Ultimately, have the confidence to carry it off well and that effect would be reflected by the on-lookers.
